Weekly Update – October 5, 2025

Hello Church Family,

I hope you’re all doing well. For me, tired is the word that seems to be defining the past few weeks. The constant running from one thing to the next has a way of wearing us down, doesn’t it? Between several pastoral visits and our daughter’s infusion on Tuesday, I’ve felt a little all over the place this week. Maybe I need to start listening to my own preaching and be still for a moment. Still, I’m trying to notice where God is present in each busy moment, and I hope you can, too.

Last Sunday, we reflected on worry, and many of you shared after the service how real that struggle is for you or someone you love. Please know that you remain in my prayers. You are not alone. If you missed that message, you can watch it on the church’s Facebook page.

This Sunday, we get to come and receive. It’s Communion Sunday, but even more than that, we’ll hear the invitation from Isaiah 55 and John 6 to recognize God’s grace already set before us. If you want to prepare your heart and mind for worship, I encourage you to spend some time with those passages. And consider inviting someone who might need to hear the reminder that in the middle of everything, God’s grace is there.

That’s all for now. Be sure to checkout the updates below. As always, don’t hesitate to call or text me if you need anything. See you on Sunday!

Weekly Updates

Sensing God’s Presence Throughout the Years – In conjunction with All Saints Day on Sunday, November 2, we will be recognizing and giving thanks for God’s presence in our church throughout the years. Do you have any items from the church’s past that you would allow us to display during the service that day? If so, please contact the church office so we can arrange their display. You are also encouraged to bring pictures of your loved ones who have gone on to eternal glory as we celebrate those who have gone before us in the faith.

Save the Date – Charge Conference packets are available for review at the back of the Sanctuary. Our Charge Conference will take place on Sunday, October 5, at 2:00 pm, at Decatur First UMC. We will need representatives from both churches to be present in order to accept our reports.

Candy Donations – On Wednesday, October 29, our Youth Group will host a Trick Shots and Treats outreach during our regular meeting time. We are in need of bags of Halloween candy for that night. Please leave your donations in the kitchen at the church.

Youth Group Schedule – Foundation Youth Ministry for students in grades 3-8 meets each Wednesday from 6:00-7:30pm. Each night includes a free meal, fun activity, and Bible lesson. Contact Pastor Michael with any questions.
